St Bartholomew’s Church, Hognaston

St Bartholomew’s stands in the centre of the village of Hognaston on a slight rise.  The origins of the building are thought to be Saxon and it is grade 2 * listed.  The tower dates from medieval times as does the only visible part of the original building, inside the porch. The doorway and tympanum are Norman. The font is also Norman. The Victorians remodelled the church in 1879 and most of the visible part of the structure dates from this period. More details of the church and village may be found on the village map outside the village hall just below the church on your right.
