Exciting progress is happening at St Michaels!

On Monday March 3rd the physical work will start on the stonework repairs at our lovely little church.

HUGE THANKS to all who have helped with fundraising over the last few years, and thank you to all National Lottery players as we have also had significant funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund to make this possible.

The stonemason, Stephen Anstey, will be repairing the coping stones at the top of the East wall, repointing and securing the wall itself to prevent further bulging, and replacing the damaged stone in the East window tracery and the North Window. As the church is Grade 1 listed, all work is overseen by our architect Mark Parsons, and we hope to be completed by May.

As part of the National Lottery funding we are also developing the area at the bottom of the churchyard by the stream to create a haven for wildlife and a more welcoming and accessible space for visitors and our local community.

This month the diseased Ash trees by the stream have been carefully felled and removed by Bentley Treescapes and Rohan Yeomans, clearing the ground for what’s to come.

We will keep you updated with more news as this work progresses!
